On August 12, 2026, as part of the "Accessibility Conferences" series, which is part of the Capacity Building Program for Persons with Disabilities for Participation in the General Local Elections of 2027, an online conference titled "The Decision to Run: Identifying Motivation, Setting Goals, and Defining One's Electorate" took place.
The event provided participants with the opportunity to reflect on the important steps involved in a potential candidacy and on the role that persons with disabilities can play in public life and decision-making processes.
The lecture was delivered by Irina Revin, President of the Association of Entrepreneurs with Disabilities in the Republic of Moldova "European Skills Without Limits," an expert in political participation, leadership, and the inclusion of persons with disabilities.
During the session, relevant aspects for building a candidacy were addressed, including:
- identifying personal motivation to run and the changes that are desired to be promoted;
- establishing clear and realistic political objectives;
- identifying the strengths of a future candidate;
- defining the electorate and the message addressed to it;
- developing an authentic, credible, and coherent candidacy.
An important message of the event was the necessity of encouraging the active participation of persons with disabilities in electoral processes, including their involvement not only as voters but also as potential candidates and participants in the decision-making process.
The electoral council of the Leova district electoral constituency no. 22 appreciates initiatives that contribute to promoting inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunities in the electoral process, as well as strengthening participatory democracy at the local level.
The event was organized by the INFONET Alliance, within the framework of the "Equal Access for All" campaign, with the support of the project "Strengthening Democratic Resilience in Moldova," implemented by UNDP Moldova and funded by Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
