In the context of marking the International Day of Democracy on September 15, the President of the Electoral Council of the Ungheni Electoral District No. 35 held a meeting with the employees of the Ungheni Police Inspectorate. The meeting focused on strengthening the inter-institutional partnership necessary to guarantee a climate of safety, public order, and legality throughout the entire electoral process. Democracy cannot function without a framework of safety and trust. In the architecture of free and fair elections, the Police of the Republic of Moldova plays a fundamental role in protecting the integrity of the vote, preventing violations, and ensuring that every voter can exercise their civic right without any form of pressure or intimidation. During the discussions, the mechanisms for operational cooperation between the Ungheni Electoral Council and the Ungheni Police Inspectorate for the prevention and combating of potential violations of electoral legislation were analyzed. The main aspects discussed included: - Security of polling stations and ballots: coordination of security and protection measures for electoral infrastructure, related materials, and the safe transportation of electoral documentation. - Prevention of electoral offenses and incidents: rapid exchange of information and prompt and impartial intervention to identify violations (bribery of voters, illicit electoral agitation, or disturbance of order near polling stations). - Ensuring equality and safety for citizens: providing conditions of complete security for all participants in the electoral process - voters, electoral officials, and observers.
