On September 3, 2026, the chairwoman of the Electoral Council of the Edineț District Electoral Circumscription No. 16 participated in the online conference titled "The Participation of Persons with Disabilities in Public Life in the Republic of Moldova: Inclusion, Gender Equality, and Political Representation."

The event was organized by the INFONET Alliance, as part of the Accessibility Conferences, which are part of the Capacity Building Program for Persons with Disabilities to participate in the General Local Elections of 2027.

During the conference, Alina Andronache, a gender expert in public policies, advocacy, and civic lobbying at the Partnership for Development Center (CPD), presented relevant information and perspectives regarding gender equality, civic and political participation, the representation of underrepresented groups, and the necessity of identifying and removing barriers that limit their involvement in decision-making processes.

An important element of the event was the dialogue with participants. Interested individuals asked questions, expressed opinions, and made proposals regarding the creation of more accessible and favorable conditions for the participation of persons with disabilities in public life and electoral processes.

Additionally, the objectives of the Capacity Building Program were presented, which aims to strengthen civic competencies, encourage active participation, and create the premises for broader involvement of persons with disabilities in the General Local Elections of 2027.

Accessibility, equal opportunities, and the participation of all citizens are essential components of a democratic electoral process. The involvement of each person in community life contributes to the strengthening of a society where the voice and rights of every citizen are respected.

The Edineț District Electoral Council No. 16 will continue to support initiatives aimed at informing, inclusion, and equal participation in electoral and democratic processes.
